Motive led several G2 fleet categories and TrustRadius rankings, while customer reports cited payback in months and shorter implementation times.

Motive’s Fleet Rankings Pair Long Runs With Faster Reported Payback

For fleet buyers comparing software, a single No. 1 badge says little without the report type, customer segment and period behind it. Motive’s results across G2 and TrustRadius offer a broader picture: the company has held top positions across multiple periods, while reviewers and customer examples report short deployment timelines and measurable returns. Those figures come from different reports and customer experiences, so buyers should compare like with like.

What the rankings measure

G2 publishes several report types, each assessing a different part of the customer experience or a product’s market traction. Its scoring methodology gives Grid reports two scores: satisfaction, based on review responses about usability, support and likelihood to recommend; and market presence, which draws on review volume and external signals such as employee counts and web traffic.

The Momentum Grid weighs growth and traction, including year-over-year changes in employee count, reviews, social following and web presence. The Implementation Index examines time to go live, setup, implementation and user adoption. The Results Index considers whether a product meets requirements, user adoption, estimated return on investment and likelihood to recommend. The Relationship Index focuses on ease of doing business, support quality and likelihood to recommend.

G2 also groups reviewers by the size of the company they work for: enterprise means 1,001 or more employees, mid-market means 51 to 1,000, and small business means 50 or fewer. Those employee bands don’t directly indicate fleet size; how well they correspond depends on the provider. Scores run from 0 to 100 and are normalized against other products in the same category, so a 99 satisfaction score reflects a comparison within that category.

TrustRadius uses its own review data and awards, including Buyers Choice, which draws on customer feedback about capabilities, value and customer relationships. A leading position in one report may not carry over to another segment or measure. Repeated results across comparable periods and categories provide more context than an isolated ranking.

Results across multiple periods

As of G2’s Fall 2026 rankings, Motive had placed first in the Fleet Management Momentum Grid for nine consecutive quarters. Its score was 90, compared with 84 for Samsara. Because this grid includes review data alongside social, web and employee signals, the result reflects a mix of customer and growth measures.

Motive also recorded first-place positions across three Momentum Grid categories: Trucking, Fleet Management and Fleet Tracking. The company says it held the top position in each for multiple consecutive quarters. It reported three first-place finishes in Implementation Index reports as well: Fleet Management, Fleet Tracking and mid-market Asset Tracking. In Fleet Management, its G2 satisfaction score was 99 out of 100.

On TrustRadius, Motive ranked first for fleet management for four consecutive years. In 2026, it received both the Buyers Choice and Top Rated awards, according to the company’s account of the results. The two sites use separate scoring and award systems, so their results are useful as independent views rather than interchangeable measures.

Reported payback and implementation times

G2 reviewers reported estimated payback averaging five months for Motive in the Winter 2026 Enterprise Grid Report for Fleet Management. The comparable figures cited were 11 months for Samsara and 17 months for Lytx. The prior winter’s Fleet Management reports showed Motive customers recovering their initial investment in six months on average, which the company described as 40% faster than Samsara customers and nearly 65% faster than Lytx customers. Motive’s satisfaction scores were also higher than Verizon Connect’s in the enterprise and mid-market segments in those reports. See the Winter 2026 results and Winter 2025 report.

Other G2 reports show different results for particular categories and periods. In the Summer 2026 Enterprise Results Index for Asset Tracking, Motive customers reported estimated return in 3.55 months, against 8.85 months for Samsara and an 11.41-month category average. In the Fall 2026 Enterprise Results Index for Fleet Management, the reported time was 5.7 months for Motive and 9.44 months for Samsara, a difference of about 40%. These measures cover distinct products and reports; they shouldn’t be treated as one combined payback figure.

Go-live estimates also varied by category. The Winter 2026 Enterprise Grid Report put Fleet Management implementation at 2.6 months for Motive, 3.6 months for Samsara and 4.2 months for Lytx. In the Summer 2026 Implementation Index, enterprise Fleet Management customers reported 2.52 months for Motive versus 3.34 months for Samsara. For enterprise Asset Tracking, the reported averages were 1.84 months for Motive, 3.12 months for Samsara and 3.53 months across the category. By Fall 2026, Motive ranked first in Fleet Tracking implementation, with customers reporting 1.67 months to go live and a 90% ease-of-setup score. The company’s accounts of these results appear in its Summer 2026 implementation report and Fall 2026 rankings.

One G2 reviewer, a safety manager, wrote that the company had paid for a three-year commitment in less than six months if the trend continued. The reviewer attributed the result to a 50% drop in slow-speed, fixed-object collisions within the first few months. That account is an individual customer experience, not a guarantee of results for other fleets; the review provides the source context.

An IDC study of six organizations using Motive’s AI-powered safety tools reported a five-month payback on safety investment, more than eight times return and average annual safety savings above $1.8 million. The findings come from an IDC white paper based on interviews with six organizations, so the sample is limited.

Customer examples put the scores in context

Published customer accounts describe installation work and operating outcomes behind some of the rankings. EnerCorp’s in-house mechanics installed AI Dashcams in all 220 vehicles in 90 days. All Chemical Transport COO Anthony Coruccini said in-house installation took about 20 minutes per truck, saving $52,000 in installation costs and at least 180 hours. A fleet and asset manager praised the support from Motive’s sales, implementation and account teams in a G2 review shared by the company.

Other customer figures concern losses, rebates and claims. Ernst Concrete Director of Risk and Safety Paul Fly reported about $1.3 million in annual direct-loss savings, or about $6.5 million when downtime, injured employees and legal expenses were included. He calculated that as a 2,000% return, as described in the company’s ROI report. Smart Chemical Solutions said it received $486.90 in discounts on $3.4 million of spending with its previous card provider in 2022 and now averages a monthly rebate of $4,879. FusionSite Services reported moving from 76 claims in one year with 479 vehicles to one claim year to date with more than 1,000 vehicles. Those figures are presented in the company’s Smart Chemical case study and ROI report.

For buyers, the practical takeaway is to check the report name, segment and period before comparing scores, then read the underlying reviews and customer examples. Motive’s public reviews are available on G2 and TrustRadius; its 2026 ROI Report summarizes results from 351 organizations.

Methodology: The rankings and scores cited refer to the specific G2 report types and periods named above, including Winter 2025, Winter 2026 Enterprise Grid, Summer 2026 and Fall 2026. G2 Momentum Grid reports combine review data with social, web and employee data; its Grid and index reports draw on verified-user reviews. TrustRadius awards refer to its 2026 Buyers Choice and Top Rated results. Reviews are public on G2 and TrustRadius; individual experiences vary. The IDC findings came from a study sponsored by Motive Technologies, Inc., based on interviews with six organizations: “The Business Value of Motive’s Accurate AI for Fleet Safety,” Doc #US54413826-BVWP, May 2026.
